My Sister Gave Me the Pettiest Ultimatum Before My Wedding… and Then Dropped a Bombshell (2 of 3)

“It’s my son’s nap time. You know how he gets if he doesn’t sleep. He’ll be cranky, and I can’t deal with that on such a big day. Move the ceremony earlier, or we won’t be there.”

For a moment I thought she was joking. We’d booked everything—venue, flowers, food. Dozens of guests had RSVP’d. People had booked flights. And now she was asking me to rearrange it all for a toddler’s nap schedule?

I swallowed my frustration. “I’m sorry, but it’s just not possible. This has been planned for months. We’ll find a way to make him comfortable, but I can’t change the time.”

Silence. A heavy, icy silence. Then she sighed. “If you won’t change it, then… I’m not coming.”

The words hit harder than I expected. Not coming? This wasn’t a random cousin. This was my sister—my best friend growing up, the one who used to braid my hair before school, the one I always pictured at my side on the most important day of my life.

I wanted to scream. I wanted to beg. Instead, I just sat there with the phone pressed to my ear, listening to her voice harden.

“You’re choosing your wedding over my son,” she said. “So I guess you’ve chosen where your priorities are.”

That was it. She hung up.

I stared at the silent screen, my heart pounding, wondering how something as small as a nap schedule could unravel a bond I thought was unbreakable. My fiancé found me sitting on the couch, phone still in my hand, and I could only whisper:

“She really meant it. She’s not coming to my wedding.”
