And then—he came charging across the lot.
“Are you insane? You broke my window!” His face was red, fists clenched.
“Your dog was dying,” I shot back. “You left her in a furnace.”
“She’s my dog! You had no right!”
Phones were out now, recording every word. Whispers swirled like wildfire.
Blue Lights and a Verdict
Two police cruisers pulled in. He pointed at me, shouting his version. “She broke into my car! She stole my dog!”
The officers turned to me. I told them everything—the call, his refusal, her condition.
One officer knelt, touched her paw, and looked up grimly. “She wouldn’t have lasted another ten minutes.”
They stood and faced him. “Sir, you’re being cited for animal endangerment. A neglect case is being opened.”
The crowd went silent. His anger deflated in an instant.
