My Husband Invited His Entire Family Over Without Warning — So I Left the House (2 of 2)

He looked at me and said, “Well… I guess it’s good they aren’t coming over anymore.”

Apparently, after I left, he canceled the gathering. No backup plan. No dinner plan. Just… canceled.

And then came the sulking. He accused me of being “uptight” and “uncooperative.” Told me I couldn’t “go with the flow.”

Where I Stand

I’m not against hosting. I’ve happily prepared for his family before. But I’m not a magician who can clean, shop, and cook an entire gathering into existence in a few hours — especially when I know I’ll be silently judged for every missed detail.

I’ve made my boundary clear: give me a couple of days’ notice. It’s not about control — it’s about respect.

He insists I’m the problem. But maybe the real problem is expecting someone else to drop everything so you can play spontaneous host.

So, what do you think? Was I wrong to walk out instead of scrambling to meet his last-minute demands? Or was this the only way to finally make my point?
