My Husband Mocked My Body in a Group Chat. He Didn’t Expect Me to Read It — Or What I’d Do Next (3 of 3)
That night, back at the hotel, I snapped a series of photos in the room. I wore the black dress he always claimed was “too tight.” I stood tall, chin lifted, and smiled as if I had the whole world at my feet.
Then I sent one single group text — to him and all his friends from that chat.
“Hi guys, just wanted to show you where I ‘would even fit in the photo.’ Thanks for reminding me that I’m worth showing off — even if my own husband can’t see it.”
Within seconds, his phone started buzzing. I watched him glance at the screen, and then his face went white. His friends were responding — some awkward, some apologetic, one even calling him out for being “out of line.”
He looked at me, eyes glassy, mouth opening and closing like he couldn’t find the right words. “I didn’t mean—” he started, but his voice cracked.
“Oh, you meant it,” I said quietly. “You just didn’t think I’d ever hear it.”
And then I walked past him, grabbed my bag, and went for a late-night walk along the shore. When I came back, his eyes were red, his phone still in his hand, unanswered messages lighting up the screen.
