8 easy Ways to Get Wavy Hair Without Using Heat (3 of 5)

Scrunch and Plop for Natural Texture

If you already have a bit of a curl in your hair, you can use a method called “plopping” to enhance your texture. After applying a curl defining cream or mousse to damp hair, flip your head over and scrunch your hair upwards. Then wrap your hair in a soft cotton T-shirt or microfiber towel, keep it plopped on top of your head. Let it sit for 20 to 30 minutes or longer, then air dry the rest of the way. This helps reduce frizz and encourages more defined natural waves.

Apply a Wave Enhancing Product to Damp Hair

Sometimes your natural texture just needs a little help. After washing your hair, gently towel dry your hair or use a microfiber cloth to remove excess water. Then apply a product designed to bring out waves, like a sea salt spray, curl cream or wave foam.

Scrunch your hair gently with your hands while it dries. This helps encourage your hair’s natural bend and gives a more tousled, effortless look. This method is especially great for those with naturally wavy or textured hair.
